Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is gearing up to take a decision within one year on the exact technical specifications and release date of its long-awaited 10MW-plus offshore wind turbine, the OEM’s chief executive for offshore wind told Recharge.

The manufacturer is already in talks with developers about when and where they plan to deploy the next-generation offshore machines. One of those customers is Swedish utility Vattenfall, which recently won the zero-subsidy tender for the 700-750MW Hollandse Kust South 1&2 offshore array, SGRE’s Andreas Nauen told Bernd Radowitz.
