German utility EnBW boosted profits in its renewables operations by 20% in the first quarter of 2018 thanks to the addition of new onshore wind capacity.

EnBW – which has emerged as a significant player in the offshore wind sector – made €95m ($113m) in the January-March quarter, up from €79m a year earlier.

The company, owned by the Green Party-led state of Baden Württemberg, made a concerted effort to boost its onshore wind fleet in 2017 and saw earnings rise as a result.
