Wind turbine manufacturers are expected to start to focus on increasing scale and expanding their already diversified global footprints over the coming decade in order to boost competitiveness, as Chinese players come back into the market, according to research from global consultancy BMI.

Following the introduction of auctions, competition in the onshore and offshore wind power markets will intensify, analysts said, resulting in an overall global effort to increase scale in order to boost cost-competitiveness and profitability.
