GE Renewable Energy today announced it will supply six 3.6MW turbines for two sites in southern Chile, the vendor’s first deal with a developer in that nation’s fast-growing wind sector.

The turbines will have 137-metre rotors and 110-meter tall towers with the order placed by Arroyo Energy Compañía de Energías Renovables.

GE says the 3MW platform is ideally suited for low wind speeds and the constrained land environments where projects are developed in Chile.
