Navigant forecasts that the US will install 8.6GW of wind power capacity this year, 9.5GW in 2019, 10GW in 2020 and 6GW in 2021. New capacity totaled 7.01GW last year, according to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).

More than 50GW of wind turbines have been “safe harboured” to qualify for the US production tax credit (PTC) and about 88% had identified sites for installation at the start of this year, according to Navigant Consulting.
