Offshore energy contractor Wood has reported first results back from scanning lidar devices installed on two turbines at Statoil’s 30MW Hywind Scotland floating wind array in the UK North Sea.

The systems, made up of Galion Lidars and motion compensation equipment that were designed in-house for the project, have been measuring turbulent wake spectra, to inform investigations into the effect on yaw motions of the five daisy-chained 6MW Siemens Gamesa machines.
