New York State is making up to $5m available to support metocean data collection off its Atlantic Ocean coast in areas with potential for up to 2.4GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is issuing a request for proposals from interested parties.

NYSERDA will require successful bidders for the funding to coordinate with regional environmental scientists to collect information that could be useful in understanding more about ecosystem function, timing and relative density of wildlife in the area, or ambient underwater noise.
