Duke Energy, the largest US utility by revenue, aims to own or have under contract 8GW of wind, solar and biomass capacity by 2020, compared with 6.4GW at the end of 2017.

If Duke can achieve the 8GW target, it would rank among the top five combined wind and solar asset owners in the US along with leaders NextEra Energy Resources, Berkshire Hathaway Energy and Xcel Energy.
