European governments were urged to enshrine floating offshore wind in their EU national energy and climate plans, as leading figures from the industry joined policymakers to hail the sector’s potential to play a pivotal role in the global energy transition.

The plans – currently being drawn up by EU governments as part of the bloc’s formulation of energy and climate policy out to 2030 – represent a “huge opportunity” to get floating wind volumes on national agendas into the next decade, WindEurope CEO Giles Dickson told FOWT 2018 in Marseille.
