The final 7MW Siemens Gamesa turbine has been installed at the giant 659MW Walney Extension wind farm, located in the Irish Sea off the coast of Cumbria, north west of England, Danish operator Ørsted has said.
The wind farm was installed in two phases using turbine technology from two leading manufacturers – MHI Vestas and Siemens Gamesa – with Seajack’s Scylla vessel installing all turbines.
