The heads of WindEurope and the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena) have both warned of negative impacts from a possible retroactive change to support granted to French offshore wind in auctions held in 2012 and 2014.

The French government on Monday said it will open talks with developers to renegotiate support for 3GW of offshore wind tendered off in the past auctions at prices of around €200 per megawatt hour ($247/MWh) – far above any of the outcomes of recent offshore wind tenders anywhere in Europe.
