The French government is due to decide imminently on the future of 3GW of offshore wind projects and the support the developments will receive, prompting renewable energy associations in the country to renew warnings of the potential danger of introducing retroactive changes.

The government said last month it wanted to “renegotiate and possibly cancel offshore wind projects” off France’s northwestern coast, amid the high cost of the subsidies offered to these projects at the time of their respective tenders against the latest industry power-price benchmarks.
