Brazil’s top energy planner Luiz Barroso and second-in-command at the Mines and Energy Ministry, Paulo Pedrosa, have left the government days after minister Fernando Coelho Filho resigned last Friday to run in October general elections.

Barroso, who led the Federal Government Authority (EPE) since mid-2016 resigned on Monday, after Pedrosa, executive secretary at the ministry, exited over the weekend.

Replacing Barroso on a temporary basis is José Mauro Ferreira Coelho, current director of oil, gas and biofuels studies.
