Enel Green Power North America (EGPNA) has begun construction of the 185MW HillTopper wind farm in the US state of Illinois after reaching power off-take agreements with Bloomberg and General Motors for a combined 117MW of its nameplate capacity.

GM has contracted long-term for 100MW capacity that will supply the automaker’s manufacturing facilities in Indiana and Ohio.

“ Our agreement with HillTopper is part of our strategy to generate or source all electrical power for our global operations with 100 percent renewable energy by 2050,” says Rob Threlkeld, global manager of renewable energy at GM.
