The rear part of the nacelle of an Adwen M5000 turbine for unknown reasons fell into the North Sea at the 60MW German offshore wind test field Alpha Ventus late on Friday, the wind farm’s operator said.

The incident poses no threat to people or the environment, Alpha Ventus said.

Alpha Ventus has informed the operators of nearby wind farms of the possibility of parts of the nacelle floating in the sea, while several vessels are in search of turbine fragments.
