Xcel Energy has acquired the 150MW Foxtail wind project in south-central North Dakota from developer NextEra Energy Resources, part of its plan to add 1.85GW of renewable power capacity in its Upper Midwest service territory through 2021.
The companies did not make public terms of the transaction. Plans call for construction of Foxtail to begin this summer, when foundations will be poured, with commercial operation in 2019.
