Massachusetts’ first offshore wind farms could sell their power at about half the price of Block Island, the lone US project in operation today, according to industry experts at consultancy Ramboll.

“Somewhere on the order of $120-$130 [per MWh] would be a good price” out of Massachusetts’ current offshore wind tender, says Tim Fischer, Ramboll’s vice director of wind.

“To expect something below $100, I don’t think that’s realistic,” Fischer tells Recharge.
