Japanese-Danish wind OEM MHI Vestas has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with four Taiwanese companies for the local manufacturing of wind turbines, hot on the heels of winning a preferred supplier deal for up to 1.5GW in turbines off Chuanghua, Taiwan.

The MoUs with China Steel Machinery Corporation (CSMC) for towers, Tien Li for blade manufacturing, Swancor for composites and resins, and Formosa Plastics Corporation for the materials for blade manufacturing have been facilitated by the long-standing experience in energy infrastructure in Taiwan by the Mitsubishi Group, which owns half of MHI Vestas.
