President Mauricio Macri’s government in Argentina forecasts that 12% of the country’s renewable energy supply at the end of this decade, or more than 3GW, will come from sources other than hydro.

Presently, renewable energy supply is 2% from sources other than hydro such as wind and solar.

In a recent report, Sebastian Kind, undersecretary for renewable energy, attributes the projected increase in non-hydro renewable capacity to projects contracts through Argentina’s RenovAr and other programmes that seek to expand renewables through private investment.
