When Jens Tommerup took the helm as chief executive of MHI Vestas in late 2013 there were no guarantees over the future of the entire offshore wind sector, never mind the newly-formed joint venture between Danish OEM Vestas and Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI).

As he prepares to bow out in April after a five-year “fantastic journey” with MHI Vestas — as part of a planned management rotation that also sees the co-CEO and chairman change — Tommerup believes the company, and the whole industry, can be proud of the strides it has made.
