India’s Suzlon Group has unveiled its SB63 wind turbine blade, at 63 metres the longest model yet developed for use in the country.

Designed and manufactured at the company’s Padubidri Rotor Blade Unit, the advanced blade, which will be flown by Suzlon’s new S128 turbine, is built around a carbon ‘girder’ that allows the concept to have a “thinner aerodynamic profile and higher lift with less drag” for operation in low wind sites

Chief technology officer Duncan Koerbel said: “The SB63 blade is the longest and most efficient aerodynamic blade Suzlon has ever produced.
