TPI Composites will produce blades for the Vestas V150-4.2 MW turbine from four new manufacturing lines in Jiangsu, China, in a further boost for the world’s largest independent blade-maker.
The “multi-year” agreement with Vestas will see TPI make the turbine’s 73.7-metre blades from its new plant in Yangzhou, with production due to start in the first half of 2019.
The deal covers production for “primarily Asian markets, but also global markets when applicable”, Vestas said in a statement.
