The massive potential of China’s offshore wind sector seemed to finally catch light last year when the country erected 1.16GW, increasing its cumulative installations by 71% to 2.79GW. But this figure is about to be dwarfed by the huge amount of capacity — more than 96GW — being planned by the country’s coastal provinces.

By the end of 2020, more than 11GW will be installed in the Taiwan Strait and Yellow, East China and South China Seas if the provinces’ official targets are met.
