Maryland’s legislature has turned back an initial effort by the municipality of Ocean City to force developers of two offshore wind projects to move turbines at least 26 miles (41.8km) from shore.
A bill that would have required more distant placement in federally-owned waters on the outer continental shelf failed to win support from majority Democrats on the Economic Matters Committee in the lower House of Delegates.
