New York has awarded $1.4bn in funding for 26 large-scale renewables projects totaling 1,383MW, including more than 700MW of onshore wind – representing what it calls the largest single renewables investment ever made by a US state.
The awards were timed to coincide with New York's announcement that it has requested an exclusion from the Trump administration's programme to open up most US waters to offshore oil and gas drilling.
