TPI Composites, the US-based maker of wind turbine blades, is taking the offshore plunge, and expects to be manufacturing the enormous blades for offshore turbines at scale within a few years, chief executive Steven Lockard says.

Since the completion last year of GE’s acquisition of Denmark’s LM Wind Power, TPI has become the world’s largest independent maker of rotor blades – meaning it is not owned or tied to any turbine OEM.
