LM Wind Power’s giant 88.4-metre blade design is set to be put through its paces on the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult’s test-rig in Blyth, northeast England.
The super-sized model, developed under the EU Demowind-funded XL-Blade project – and originally expected to be used on the now-iced Adwen 8MW AD8-180 offshore wind turbine, will undergo a battery of tests at ORE Catapult’s 100-metre blade-test facility “over the coming months”.
