A surge in offshore wind capital expenditure is an “opportunity for diversification” for other sectors into renewables, according to research from consultancy Westwood Global Energy Group.

Based on a review of latest project data, Westwood forecasts over 15,300 turbines will be installed over the 2018-2027 period with a total global cumulative capacity increasing from 22GW to almost 113GW, if projects at the concept and speculative stages of development are included.
