France's Engie has made a decisive move to expand in the US wind market with the acquisition of Infinity Renewables and its 8GW development pipeline, giving it a pathway into the booming US corporate renewables market.

The French energy group bought California-based Infinity for an undisclosed sum via its Engie North America unit. Formerly known as GDF Suez, Engie is among Europe's largest electric utilities, with the French government owning a sizeable minority stake.
