A new study being put together by former UK energy minister Sir Michael Fallon is to scrutinise the “effectiveness” of the current government’s policies on local content for the coming offshore wind energy build-out.

The study, commissioned by British contractor Wilton Engineering, will run the rule over contracts awarded to key regional industry players including Offshore Structures Britain, JDR Cables, Tekmar and DeepOcean, with an eye on “best practice” to date and those “obstacles” facing the fast-emerging British sector.
