The Bundesrat – Germany’s upper house of parliament – has approved a proposal to amend the country’s Renewable Energies Act (EEG) in order to raise the volume of onshore tenders this year by 1.365GW, and end privileges for community power when bidding in all auctions in 2018 and 2019.

The government in Berlin, which currently is only a caretaker administration, now has six weeks to make a statement on the issues and then possibly forward the initiative to the more powerful Bundestag, the lower house of parliament.
