The Bundesrat – Germany’s upper house of parliament – today (2 February) will discuss a resolution by coastal states to raise the country’s 2030 offshore wind target by 5GW to 20GW and introduce a 35GW goal for 2035.

The offshore wind sector welcomed the move and said the high costs that had prompted the government in 2014 to lower its 2030 offshore ambitions from 25GW to 15GW no longer exist.
