Competition intensified in the US wind turbine market last year, with the top two suppliers, Vestas and GE Renewable Energy, jointly commanding 64% of the total market, or 35% and 29% respectively – down significantly from a combined 85% in 2016, the American Wind Energy Association says.

The difference was made up by greatly improved performances out of the recently merged Siemens Gamesa, which took 23% of the US market in 2017, and Nordex USA, at 11%.
