A Danish industrial-academic partnership including turbine OEM Vestas aims to cut wind resource assessment times by up to 50% by advancing LiDAR technology.

Vestas, EMD International and Renewable Systems Limited are collaborating with DTU Wind Energy – part of the Technical University of Denmark – on a three-year research project named RECAST, which begins this week.

Andreas Bechmann, RECAST project manager and DTU senior scientist, told Recharge: “Our goal is to make the estimation of the energy production for new wind farms more precise, and shorten the duration required for measurements.”
