Maine Governor Paul LePage has imposed a moratorium on issuance of permits for new onshore wind farms pending further study by a new panel on how turbines affect the state’s nearly $6bn tourism economy.
“I am placing a moratorium on issuing any new permits related to wind turbines until this Commission studies the economic impact that such development would have on tourism in Maine,” LePage said in a statement.
