An Anschutz Corp. subsidiary has gained approval to locate the southern terminal for its planned $3bn, 725-mile long (1,167km) TransWest Express wind transmission project at Boulder City, Nevada, south of Las Vegas.

The move is an important step forward toward construction of the 600kV, 725-mile long (1,167km) overhead direct-current line, which will bring 20,000GWh/year of low-cost electricity from Wyoming to California and adjacent states.
