Despite more than two years of policy setbacks onshore wind is showing renewed signs of life in the UK, as major developers and the governments of Scotland and Wales keep faith with a sector they believe deserves a chance to show its true value.

The clearest sign of renewed impetus came in November when UK climate and industry minister Claire Perry said “onshore wind is absolutely part of the future” and that she was working on ways to bring forward projects “in areas of the UK which want to deploy it”.
