Global offshore wind leader Orsted (formerly Dong) decided to stay out of this week's zero-subsidy tender for up to 760MW off the Netherlands, instead focusing on Massachusetts.

Orsted chief strategy officer Martin Neubert said the economics of the Dutch tender were uncertain, according to a report by the Reuters news agency confirmed to Recharge by the Danish group.

Swedish utility Vattenfall and Norwegian oil giant Statoil announced they had bid in the zero-subsidy auction for the Hollandse Kust South 1&2 zone that closed yesterday, with an award by the Dutch government expected in a couple of months.
