Siemens Gamesa has extended a licensing agreement for offshore wind turbines with Shanghai Electric to its direct-drive 7MW machine, and plans to negotiate with its former joint venture partner to widen the license to include its 8MW turbine, Oliver Berendt, head of the OEM's liaison office in China, told Recharge.
Siemens in 2015 – before merging with Gamesa – ended its JV with Shanghai Electric that included turbine production in China, and instead licensed its 2.5MW
