US developers this year through October installed 19.8GW of utility-scale generation capacity, up from 19.1GW a year earlier, with wind and utility-scale solar placing second and third behind natural gas, according to latest Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) data.

New wind capacity totaled 5GW versus 3.1GW in the first 10 months of 2016, while solar declined to 3.4GW from 5.7GW.
