BayWa becomes largest renewables O&M player in Italy

German group BayWa r.e. has become the largest renewables O&M provider in Italy after acquiring local independent player Energy Systems Services.

BayWa now have 1.6GW under service in Italy — 1.1GW of wind and 500MW of PV. Globally, the company now has “up to 4GW” of renewables projects under management.

“The acquisition of ESS means BayWa r.e. is able to provide a broader range of services, with extensive capabilities in wind farm operations and maintenance, as well as in HV/MV [high-voltage/medium-voltage] substations,” said Alessandra Toschi, managing director of BayWa r.e.
