Alberta announced the winners of its first renewables tender Wednesday, and the results blew away everyone’s expectations – with prices among the lowest seen for onshore wind anywhere in the world.
The western Canadian province had been expected to award up to 400MW of new capacity in the first round of its Renewable Electricity Program (REP), but ended up awarding nearly 600MW at a weighted-average price of C$37 ($28.86)
