US floating wind pioneer Principle Power has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA) in northern California to advance development of a project in federal waters off the Pacific coast of Humboldt County.

The move is firm indication that the developer remains interested in opportunities along the west coast after a 24MW pilot project offshore Oregon stalled last year after it failed to find buyers for the electricity.
