Energy Secretary Rick Perry has granted a request for a 30-day extension of his deadline for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to create new rules that require grid operators to subsidize coal and nuclear plants regardless of market conditions.
The request was made by Kevin McIntyre shortly after taking his seat as FERC’s chairman, bringing the agency to its full staffing of five commissioners for the first time since 2015.
