Egypt moved its wind power ambitions a further step forward when its government advanced agreements with developer Lekela Power over a 250MW project and GE Power over grid expansion to support extra capacity.

Egyptian state power utility EETC and the country’s energy minister have “initialed” a power purchase agreement over a 250MW Gulf of Suez wind farm planned by Lekela, a joint venture of investment group Actis and a consortium led by Mainstream Renewable Power.
