E.ON brings 400MW Rampion wind farm online off UK
The 400MW Rampion offshore wind farm has started generating electricity in the English Channel.
German developer E.ON said the first Vestas V112-3.45MW turbine has been commissioned, with the 115 additional machines to be connected to the grid in stages over the next few months.
The offshore work for the Rampion project began in autumn 2015 with the preparation of the seabed for the foundations. The first monopile was installed at the beginning of 2016.
The installation of the turbines began in March this year and was completed ahead of schedule in September.
The project is being built and operated off Brighton, southern England, by E.ON and its Canadian partner Enbridge.
