Reacting to small steps announced by the government in the run-up to a tender for the Oléron bottom-fixed offshore zone and floating sites off Brittany and the Mediterranean Sea, the wind sector has demanded more visibility and an ambitious time-table for the roll-out of offshore wind in France.

French prime minister Édouard Philippe at a maritime conference in the Atlantic port of Le Havre said in order to speed up the country’s slow-moving offshore wind development, the government next year will launch preliminary technical studies and a public debate on the 500MW Oléron zone in the Atlantic Ocean, and technical studies on the planned floating wind sites.
