Spanish group Iberdrola has completed the construction of the 350MW Wikinger wind farm in the German Baltic Sea, and is now getting ready commission the project “in the next few months”.

The last of the 70 5MW AD 5-135 turbines making up Iberdrola’s €1.4bn ($1.64bn) development went up in October.

Wikinger is now operating in “island mode” (without power evacuation), awaiting grid-connection energisation by German transmission system operator 50Hertz, responsible for connecting the wind farm to shore.
