Iberdrola has decided to complete the process of phasing out its thermal electricity generation worldwide by closing its final two coal power plants in Spain as part of its commitment towards tackling climate change.
The Spanish renewables giant has submitted a permit application to the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Strategy to shut down the 358MW Lada (Asturias) and 516MW Velilla (Palencia) coal-fired power plants.
