Brazilian renewable energy company CPFL Renováveis reduced its loss by 73% year-on-year to R$31.6m ($9.8m) in the first nine months of 2017, as wind projects that started commercial operations accrued new revenues for the company and good capacity factors boosted its turbines.

In the third quarter the company posted net profits of R$98m, the largest for a three month period in its four-year history since it held its IPO in 2013.
